✝️ FAITHFUL TRANSITIONS

Goodbye, Pastor Wesley Williams & Welcome, Pastor Joyce Kang & Family!

We extend our deepest gratitude to Pastor Wesley Williams, who faithfully served and supported Wellfleet UMC while we were without a settled pastor over the past year. God has richly blessed our congregation through his dedicated ministry. We celebrated his retirement on July 26th. Recently, he turned 83! Happy Birthday, Pastor Wesley! You will forever remain in our prayers and hearts.

Charlie, Marilyn Walter and Hannah            Pastor Joyce and Norma

We also express special thanks to our church leadership—especially our Lay Leader, Charlie Walters, and SPRC Chair, Norma Benson. Without their untiring dedication, we could not have carried forward!

At the same time, we give a warm Wellfleet welcome to our new minister, Pastor Joyce Kang, and her family! Her husband, Victor, serves as pastor at South Yarmouth UMC, and she has five children: Lydia, Abe, Grace, Esther, and Hannah. They are already falling in love with the Wellfleet community! May God bless this wonderful new chapter in our church’s story.

📖 SERMON NOTES & ARCHIVE

Throughout August, Pastor Joyce preached on who God is, who she is as our pastor, who we are as "Wellfleetians," and who God calls us to be together. Pastor Joyce Kang's Sermon Blogs

🎈 CHILDREN & YOUTH MINISTRY

  • Children’s Moment: Since August, we have reintroduced the Children’s Moment during Sunday worship. Thank you to Charlie, Niesha, Norma, and Lydia for sharing scripture lessons with our young ones. If you would like to share a Children's Message during an upcoming service, please let Pastor Joyce or Charlie know!

  • Sunday School Room (Nazareth Room): Our children and youth will now meet in the Nazareth Room! Children are invited to draw two posters—one about themselves and one about God—to decorate our new space. We are also accepting donations of Sunday school supplies (crayons, construction paper, scissors, glue, paints, and room decor). If you have a heart for guiding the next generation, please reach out to Pastor Joyce!

  • Back to School Blessing (September 6th): Join us this Sunday as we lay hands on and pray for our students and grandchildren as they begin a new academic year.

Please hold our youth and children in your daily prayers:

Lydia (16), Abe (15), Cavin (14), Grace (11), Jade (9), Esther (9), Kayleigh (8), Theo(8), Ruby (6), and Hannah (6).

(If we missed your child or grandchild's name/age,

please notify the church office so we can update our list!)

SMALL GROUPS & UPCOMING MEETINGS

  • Small Groups Launching in October! John Wesley placed great emphasis on small group "class meetings" for spiritual growth. Beginning in October, we can offer small groups across multiple formats: In-Person Weekday Bible Study, Sunday Morning Adult Sunday School, or Zoom Bible Study. Contact Norma, Charlie, or Pastor Joyce if you are interested!

  • Administrative Council Meeting: Sunday, September 13th, immediately following worship. We will introduce our committee members, have a short class for ushers, and prepare for our upcoming Church Conference.
